Zecco, the zero-commission trading platform has been getting a lot of buzz recently. Like many of my friends, I became a member sometime ago. While the absence of hefty commissions is certainly attractive, I must say that I am terribly disappointed by the user experience offered by the site.
I can't understand for the life of me why Zecco doesn't have a login form on its homepage!! Users have to click "sign in" before they can enter their username and password.
And it only gets worse from there. You'd expect that you can access your trading account once you sign in, but no such luck. You have to click "trading" to access the trading center, and btw, you have to enter another password.
The worst piece of design I think is the button on the top right corner. If you're logged out or yet to sign in, it says "Sign in| Sign Out"; but then as soon as you're signed in, it says "Sign out|Trading". Notice that "sign out" has suddenly moved from being on the right to being on the left!!! In my first few days of using Zecco, I quite often got signed out when my intention was to sign into the trading center.
I could go on all day about other aspects of the design which leave me frustrated, especially the reporting interface on the trading center, but let me rest my case here. Zecco has got an interesting business model, and I'd like to see them succeed, but I really hope that they invest some serious effort in making their site more usable.
Which methons do you choose to get info for your new posts and which exact search networks do you often utilize?
